Description
Pine tree honey is a honeydew type of honey that is produced by bees that collect sugar secretions exerted from certain types of insects living in pine trees. According to the Greek Mythology, pine tree used to be a nymph called Pitys, who was transformed into pine tree by the god Pan. Pine tree honey is one of the most widely produced type of honey in Greece.
It has a dark, brownish-amber color and due to its low sugar-content, it has a mild sweetness and a resinous flavor. It is not as intense as other types of honey and has a distinct pine aroma.
